LAPD VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

Jeopardy Program

The P.A.L volunteer program is one of the most reconized programs in the LAPD. This program helps and teachs kids about the use of gangs and drug abuse. Many kids were involved in these two activities. Hollenbeck's also teaches kids about responsiblility, education, physical and mental conditioning, and success. If we didn't have this program, kids would be using drugs and be in dangrous gangs.

The Cadet Program

The Jeopardy Program is a gang prevention program for boys and girls ages 8 through 17 and their parents. It was created by the LAPD in 1991 for children at risk of getting involved with gangs. The Jeopardy Program has many goals. For example it helps students improve their grades. Another goal is to decrease violent and inappropriate behavior. This is done by holding monthy family seminars offering activities to be selected by each child and checking the children monthly for at least one year.

The Cadet Program offers an 18 week course teaching valuable skills to youth. There are several different types of courses such as fiance, ethics, moratlity, and health. The Program aims to instill pride and a sense of good character. The goals of the program is to build good relationships between the police and the youth in our communities and promote fitness and health.
